Netflix Coming to Canada?

NetflixAs many of you know I’ve been down in Las Vegas for the past week for the Consumer Electronic Show, also known as CES. It’s heaven for gadget geeks like myself. The place to see what new products will be released this year, and in the years to come. But it’s also a great place to hear juicy gossip and rumours. And I have to say this rumour holds legs.

I spoke to at least 3 major manufacturing companies, who I will not name, who told me Netflix is indeed coming to Canada very soon. How soon? It could be as early as June. Representatives from the CRTC were also in Vegas for CES, chatting with Netflix and manufacturers about the demand for Netflix and similar services like Vudu north of the border.

Stars at Sunshine

alec2Alec Baldwin is back in the beautiful Rockies to co-host another Celebrity Ski Invitational at Sunshine/Banff Springs Jan 14-17.  Baldwin is a long time supporter and is co-hosting the gala fundraiser Saturday at the Banff Springs.  Other celebs in the neighborhood this weekend: Kelsey Grammer; Desperate Housewives’ star, Marcia Cross; and Lyle Lovett.

The stars turn out to show their support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Waterkeeper Alliance.  In 2009, the three day extravaganza raised more than $1 million for the Waterkeeper Alliance.

You can usually see the stars on the hill (they run an obstacle course at Sunshine on Friday).  Your other option is to splurge on a tickets for the gala (available through The Fairmont Banff Springs) – they’re only $500 per person plus applicable taxes.

Rozlyn. Inappropriate?

posted on January 12th, 2010 - Filed in Uncategorized - 4 comments »

118250_D_4429I think the question on everyone’s mind after last night’s episode is what exactly *is* “inappropriate behavior”?  The vague accusation wasn’t ever really defined but was enough to kick two people off The Bachelor set.

Rozlyn Papa was asked to leave the show last night after supposedly beginning a romantic relationship with a member of the show’s production staff. Both Roz and the “staffer” were sent packing.

Since we don’t know what really happened, I’m happy to speculate on the nature of this alleged relationship.  The “inappropriate behavior” could have been sexual (as speculated by the girls in the house), it could have been a flirtation by the infinity pool, it could have been exchanged business cards…we don’t know the details.

Vague accusations brought vague reactions – on both sides.  When Chris Harrison confronted Rozlyn (most *awkward* Bachelor moment to date) Rozlyn didn’t seem to put up a fight.  Weird.  She didn’t confirm or deny the “inappropriate relationship”, she just said “That puts me in a bad spot….I don’t think it was anything deceitful”.  Not really an impassioned defense.

On the flip side, when Jake found out about Roz he didn’t really seem to question/care/ask for her clarification around the situation.  Jake just asked “can I have my rose back?”  Double weird.

Did we miss something?

Let’s be honest – a lot can happen in the edit suit.  This isn’t the first time a we’ve seen surprise scenario or a “first in the history of the Bachelor”.  Remember when Wes was accused of having a secret girlfriend?  Remember when the allegations brought the cocktail party to a jarring halt? Remember when Wes said after getting sent home that he was made out to be the bad guy on the show?  Remember when Wes said “I’m a pretty big deal in Chihuahua Mexico” hahahaha.  Ahhhh I miss quoting Wes.

There’s a lot of missing information in this Rozlyn “Producergate” scandal.  Here’s my bottom line – Rozlyn will hopefully get the opportunity to say her truth if that’s what she wants (she’s now calling it a “blatant lie”).  Further to that, Rozlyn and Jake aren’t a good match anyway.  I don’t think she would have gotten the final rose with or without the allegations of “inappropriate behavior”.

MORE NOTES118250_D_4206

Michele – still off the rails on a crazy train.

Vienna – TOTALLY opened her secret ex-file at the wrong time/place.  Too emotional too soon.  I winced for her.

Tenley/Ali/Gia/Elizabeth – I’m a big fan. Tenley is my still front runner after Episode 2.

Re: Elizabeth and her no kissing note:  Best. Move. Ever.  That will keep Jake intrigued for some time.  Girl knows how to play the game.  I hope it’s more than a smart move and she proves she has the goods to back it up.

Tiana’s Take on The Bachelor

posted on January 8th, 2010 - Filed in Uncategorized - No comments »

tiana-kruzel-bachelor“I definitely know that Monday’s episode is going to be action packed” was Tiana’s official line when I asked about the The Bachelor scandal during our interview via satellite this morning.

Rumors that Rozlyn struck up an “inappropriate relationship” with one of the producers while filming The Bachelor were confirmed by Jake today.  Tiana (who was voted out Episode 1) played it safe when I asked her if she detected any behind the scenes drama during filming.

The 31 year old former Calgarian now living in Vancouver said looking back she could have done more to catch Jake’s eye.  “Obviously I didn’t do a good job,” Tiana laughed.  “I didn’t bring jelly beans I didn’t have a joke about a landing strip.  Re watching the episode I realize I missed out and if I had to do it again I would maybe take him a white cowboy hat.”Rozlyn

In the end all is fair in love and roses and Tiana wasn’t surprised she didn’t stay past the first episode. “I don’t think we had a connection…he’s a very very nice guy but I’m a little more outgoing than he is.  His faith is huge to him and my faith is important to me but maybe not as strong.”

Tiana will happily be watching The Bachelor from the comfort of her couch with her girlfriends like the rest of us.  She *did* leave us with her top three picks – Tenley, Elizabeth, and Ali.  And we”ll all be tuning in see how the Rozlyn’s “inappropriate relationship” plays out on Monday night.
