First let me say a big thank you to all who turned up at our Breakfast Television studios for a chance to win an Apple iPad. It was great meeting you all, and nice to put a face to some loyal Twitter followers. That being said, it was Myra Rolston who walked away with the big prize! Myra, who is a loyal BT viewer says she almost didn’t show up because she was running late. Good thing she did or her daughter wouldn’t have a new iPad. Yes, she gave it to her daughter. What a good mom!

Congrats Myra! For everyone else, thanks for coming out and keep watching for more major prizes to be given away soon!

Boy did we find some spectacular treasures at the Spring Antiques Show and Sale.  I managed to squeeze in a little shopping time for our BT crew this morning.  Found an armadillo handbag for Sus (complete with ears and claws), a Montreal Canadiens toothbrush for Andy (only $3 – a steal!), and an A-track karaoke machine for Mike Yawney (vintage gadget – booya!).

Of course there’s also a wide selection of less obscure items – beautiful furniture, jewelry, and other collectibles.  Find your own gems this weekend at Stampede Park!

-Here comes the turnaround! Low is now far to the east, the wind subsides – and although we’ll be a few degrees cooler than average (+14) – it’s nice to be back to the double digits. Look for showers early in the new work week.

We had a good excuse to have a cake for breakfast because today is Sweet Dreams Dessert Day!  27 restaurants across the city will donate the proceeds from dessert to the Make A Wish Foundation.  We spent the morning at The Cheesecake Cafe on Macleod Trail with Shaine who is the 2010 Wish Child Ambassador.  He was adorable and managed to tear through 3 pieces of cake.

Shaine’s mom Stephanie told us about their family’s journey with cancer over the last few years.  Shortly after Shaine’s first birthday, a CT scan showed a massive tumor covering 20% of Shaine’s brain.  A biopsy of the tumor gave a name to this monster- A.T.R.T. (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor); a cancer that is extremely rare and affects about 1-2% of children with brain tumors.  Statistically only 10% of children under the age of three survive this cancer.  Shaine will be five this year!  He earned his nickname “Tank” because mom says he can get through anything.
Shaine’s Wish was to go to go on a Disney Cruise.  Proceeds of this year’s promotion will go towards making the wishes for children, like Shaine, come true.

You must have all four Apps of the Day written down and be present at our studio to win!

When you run a contest like this interesting things always come up. For example, we didn’t foresee Mother Nature dumping a huge load of snow on us. The snow managed to interfere with satellite feeds so some viewers could not watch to find out Thursday’s App of the Day. We realize this is not in your control! Since I’m a nice guy and I WANT you to win I’m going to list all four iPad Apps of the Day below:

I was actually lucky to get a flat tire this week because — by coincidence — we had a full morning planned at Kal Tire with celebrity mechanic Bill Gardiner (TSN’s Motoring).  May is National Car Care Month and my little Civic was in desperate need of some TLC.

Bill took me through some basic maintenance tips.  We checked my tire pressure and change the oil.  Don’t wait until the oil light comes on – lesson learned!  Yes, I’m a bit of a dipstick when it comes to those things – but at least now I know how to read one.

Disappointed Apple didn’t release the iPad here in Canada this past weekend as was first planned? Ya, you’re not alone. But don’t fret, BT has you covered. We managed to get our hands on Apple’s latest gadget, and since we’re a generous bunch, we’re going to give it away!

So how do you win? Watch BT Monday to Thursday to catch out iPad App of the day. Keep track of the Apps, then on Friday come down to our studios during Breakfast Television with your list in hand. We’ll pick one lucky winner who will take the iPad home with them!
