Roller Derby for Breakfast

posted on April 22nd, 2010 - Filed in Breakfast Television - No comments »

Our BT crew laced up the skates and took on 3 legit Roller Derby teams.  We got a hard hitting tutorial from the Thrashin’ Lassies, The B-52 Bellas and the Cut Throat Car Hops.  Our team:  Sus (Foxy Rolla), Andy (The Hawaiian Punch), Producer Mike McKeown (Axl Rolls), Producer Kevin Knough (Buff Knough) and yours truly Killa Jilla.

Click here to check the vid!

It was all fun and games until I wiped out hard around the corner.  At least I fell in cute pink socks.  No but seriously, these girls are tough – I couldn’t cut it for a minute.  Foxy Roller probably could.  Who knew our Foxy is a trained figure skater?

The Calgary Roller Derby season opener kicks off Saturday April 24th at the Triwood Arena.

Review: Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction (Xbox 360)

Splinter_Cell_Conviction

I’ve got to admit, I usually don’t hold out too much hope for a game when I hear it’s been delayed. As soon as I hear the release date has been pushed back, I tend to fear the worst. The game must be bad if the publisher is choosing to hold it back, right?

It’s no secret Splinter Cell: Conviction has faced its share of delays. Originally the game was slated to be released back in November of 2007, but was taken “back to the drawing board” on more than one occasion. In fact, the game was delayed a total of three times before finally seeing store shelves.

Can a game that has been re-imagined three times over still come through the other side unscathed? Can fans of the series put faith back into a game that has been resurrected from the dead? The answer to both questions is yes.

TODAY: 23, Sunny
TONIGHT: 6, Clear
THURSDAY: 21, Sunny
A real “enjoy it while it lasts” forecast…today will be the hottest day of the week – and tomorrow will remain very nice as well — BUT — a Cold Front pushing through on Friday will bring us much cooler air (high = 6) with showers – warming by the weekend – but no +20 temperatures. >Meteorologist Andrew Schultz.

More of the same…at least in the short-term. Low 20’s until Thursday, then we see instability bringing cooler temperatures and scattered showers both Thursday & Friday….look for a ‘turnaround’ by the weekend (a return to ‘average’ daytime highs with a mix of sun & cloud).

Little Runners

We had an amazing morning at Glenmore Christian Academy this week.  There are about two hundred kids in the running club and they’ve all signed up for The Scotiabank Calgary Marathon!  I was so impressed with the students and it was a treat to spend the show with them.

GCAThese young runners are all running for Team Diabetes – but there are so many charities to choose from if you want to sign up for the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge — click here for all the details!  We’re hoping to top 9,000 participants and $130,000 for charity at this year’s event.

Just six weeks to go!  I’m so excited the weather has finally turned a corner.  I’ll be running the half and it’s that much easier to get motivated and run in the sun!
