Joyce Dewitt AND Terri Clark

posted on September 10th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 1 comment »

Andrew Schultz and I were star struck earlier this week when we got a double dose of star power on BT.

First, Joyce Dewitt (yes, “Janet” from Three’s Company). Joyce is in town performing at Stage West right now. She stopped by to re-enact a scene from Threes Company with Andy and I. It was a blast and she was so great.

Second, Terri Clark agrees to sing for us at 8 am. Not an easy gig. She sounded amazing (accoustic version of a new song out called Gypsy Boots).

The best part though was seeing Terri and Joyce connect off camera. It was fun watching them compliment each other on their work.

For Andy and I… another cool day on BT.

Dave’s Getting Married… and we need you!

posted on August 26th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 18 comments »

Our dear Dave is getting hitched this weekend to beautiful Blythe

And he’d be fibbing if he told you he wasn’t just a little nervous about the big day.

So lets send him on his merry way with some great wedding day/life advice.

Anything that was key to getting you through the big day? What’s your secret to wedded bliss?

Send your advice and we’ll be sharing it on BT with Dave.  Consider it our gift to the newly weds!

Thanks everyone, Susanne

PS: Aren’t they adorable?

For Marty: Granola Bars…

posted on July 22nd, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 4 comments »

Hey all,

I promised the “crane guy” Marty a healthy breakfast after hearing he eats Red Bull and Chips for breakfast! So, I whipped up some granola bars for him… and shared some extra with the staff.

Now don’t go thinking I’m at all gifted in the kitchen… but this is one that anyone can do. So, because there was such a demand for my granola recipe (a couple people asked) … here it is:

3 cups of rolled (quick oats)

1 cup of cranberries

1 cup of chocolate chips

1 cup of sunflower seeds

1 cup of nuts (I like almonds but pecans are good too)

1 can of light condensed milk

1/2 cup of butter (I use margarine)

Bake @ 325 F for 25 minutes (let cool for 5 and then slice, they are easier to cut when a little warm still)

Happy baking all!

Yep, the Stampede is just a couple weeks away. Some of the BT gang was invited to a special launch party put on by the Stampede to promote this years highlights.

The folks in charge keep the name of the parade marshal underwraps until the launch party. But Director Tammy and I spotted him with Stampede Royalty… take a look…

Mike Holmes is the pick for Marshal this year. He’ll kick things off for the big show July 3rd.

The native Torontonian and handsome handyman says he’s working on his “Yahooo” for the big day.

We also got a look at some of the entertainment lined up for the “Greatest Outdoor show on Earth.” On this years grandstand Allie Bertram and Miles Faber from “So you think you can dance”, The Wheel of Death (don’t know, but it sounds dangerous) AND a great friend of BT’s – singer Suzie McNeil. I caught up with Suzie at the Stampede party. Love her!

Lisa Raitt Debate

posted on June 12th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - No comments »

So she’s said it… “I’m sorry.”

Can we just move on now?

We’ve been debating the Lisa Raitt controversy this week on BT with experts. Raitt is the Natural Resources Minister who got caught on tape saying the medical isotope shortage was politically “sexy” and she could benefit from it. The rookie minister made the controversial comments in a private conversation with an aide months ago that was accidentally caught on tape.

Political Scientist Duane Bratt from MRC brought this debate full circle this morning when he suggested we get over the flashy headlines and focus on the REAL issues here. Isotopes and blame- game politics.

Hospitals across the country are being forced to cancel cancer tests because of the isotope shortage brought on by the unexpected shutdown of the aging Chalk River reactor.
It produces half of the world’s medical isotopes.

Meanwhile in Ottawa – our elected MP’s are demanding resignations, pointing fingers and deflecting answers. If I can borrow a quote from the great Mike McCourt  …”what a bunch of baffoons!”

Zombie invasion

posted on May 25th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 2 comments »

Oh the glamour of being a host on BT.

Today I was transformed into a zombie by the fine folks from Vertigo Theatre.

Thanks to make-up artist Whitney Huget-Penner who covered me in scabs, blood, and crusty old skin.

The fabulously gory show, EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL, kicks off this week. (note: the first 3 rows are called the “Splatter Zone”. Be prepared to get blood and goo on you!)

After our show, I spent a good 30 minutes pealing my zombie face off.

Glue is what makes it stick. … Ouch.

I have no idea how I’m going to get a comb through my hair. …Yikes.

The Calgary Hitmen are un-defeated in the playoffs after 3 rounds – and 12 consecutive victories…
thanks in part to the delicious breakfasts BT has made for them.

Monday morning we continued the tradition, serving up breakfast to forward Brett Sonne and goaltender Martin Jones.

Not to toot my own horn…. but it was a huge hit with the Hitmen and the rest of our guests!

I can’t take credit for the recipe though. The gals from The Best of Bridge came up with it first. It’s a great dish to serve a bunch of people in the morning. Try it and let me know what you think. GO HITMEN!!!
