We all know some people have way too much time on their hands. This story proves it! A British aeronautical engineer was playing around with the new Google Earth 5.0 (which shows the ocean floor) when he noticed something strange off the coast of Africa. About 600 miles west of the Canary Islands, he discovered a strange grid pattern which kind of looks like a street grid. Could this be the legendary Atlantis?
Google has now rained on every one’s parade releasing this statement:
“What users are seeing is an artifact of the data collection process. Bathymetric (or sea floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea floor. The lines reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data.”
