At CES this year numerous companies told me confidentially Netflix was looking at coming to Canada. Well guess what, it’s about to happen. The company has officially announced it will open its service to Canadians this fall.
“Canadian Netflix members will be able to instantly watch a broad array of movies and TV episodes right on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as watching on PCs and Macs.” states a press release from netflix.
This is the first time the service is being made available outside the US. However unlike in the US, there will be no rentals via mail. Instead Netflix will strictly a streaming service. It will also only be available in English, but the company says it will expand to offer French service in the near future.
