It’s official…VHS is officially dead. The last notable distributor of VHS tapes has shipped its last load during the Christmas rush. Distribution Video Audio of Palm Harbor, Florida has announced that they have now shipped out their last remaining stock of VHS tapes.
You know what this means…Mom, Dad, time to break down and buy a DVD player before the plug is pulled on that format as well! Blu-Ray and online distribution are now challenging DVD. Who knows how long it will last.
Know anyone who is still not willing to part with their old VHS ways?

Question…how do i convert family videos on VHS to DVD?
January 16th, 2009 at 10:39 pmDanielle, you have a couple of choices. Some companies make dvd/vhs combo machines that let you dub over your family movies. Sony makes them as does Panasonic and Philips.
Another machine that may work for you is something called a Digital Video And Photo To DVD Converter. I showed one off on BT last year. It works very well. This dvd burner will basically let you burn almost any video onto dvd…even photos. Sony makes them but for some reason they stopped selling them (I heard due to copyright issues). You can still purchase them online however. Hammacher Schlemmer sells them in Canada. Here is a link:

As I mentioned there are a few options out there. You just need to find the device that is right for you.
